After a long day chasing on April 19th, we spent the night in Lenexa, Kansas at Brian's place and awoke to a Slight Risk in Illinois.  Brian chose to pass on the set up, but since Lucas Munzlinger and I were heading that direction to head home anyway, we took the opportunity to extend our chase one more day.  On the way back, my son Ryan let us know he was available to join us, so we picked him up back at home.

Now the question was, do we head north on the Missouri or Illinois side of the Mississippi River.  The best target appeared to be up near the Iowa/Illinois border, but our late start in the morning did not allow enough time get there in time, so we made the decision to head up on the Illinois side on Highway 367, the 67.  We targeted some cells that were coming out of Missouri near Bowling Green.   We backtracked a bit west once we got close to Interstate 72 and around Winchester, Illinois, watched the first cell approach.  We lined ourselves up with the storm to watch the back end approach.  It had a very nice wall cloud and was visibly rotating, produced a funnel cloud, but could never condense a tornado down to the ground.

Over the next 2 hours, we latched onto several other cells.  Another would show us a wall cloud, but with very minor rotation.  It became obvious that today's storms would not produce any tornadoes.
